2 tablespoons butter
4 cups berries, cleaned and trimmed
½ cup sugar
1 lemon, zested and juiced
Pinch of salt
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Add the berries, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice.Cook mixture, stirring often, until the berries begin to break down and release their juices, around 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and serve on top of French toast.
