Walk on the Wild Side
Let your adventurous side guide you with these walks all across West Virginia.
West Virginia is known for its wild and wonderful outdoors. In the spring, bluets, buttercups, spring beauties, and vibrant daylilies dot the landscape. “Wildflowers thrive in areas that are partly forest and partly open. Taking a little detour can sometimes bring you to a diverse patch of wildflowers,” says Joy Cooper, co-creator of the “Wildflowers Along the Way” iPhone app.
With several wildflower walks in different parts of the state, there’s no excuse for not getting outside and enjoying nature this spring. Here’s just a handful of the events scheduled to take place around the Mountain State this season.
“Our unique landscape, rivers and streams, woodlands that are mossy and mulchy, and vast fields make West Virginia such a unique, beautiful place in the spring and summer months," says Beth Hestick, a trail guide with Wild & Wonderful Walks.
