While Snowshoe Resort offers a wide variety of rentals at different price points, Sawmill Village is the areas only gated slopeside community. Located adjacent to Soaring Eagle Lodge at the top of the mountain, it is a magical community with whimsical architectural details reminiscent of Swiss villages. We held our magazine retreat at the largest property on the mountain—Sawmill Village Slopefront 2, owned by investment firm Hayden Harper, Inc. And although we expected it to be large and lovely, when we walked into the house, we each had the same jaw-dropping reaction with lots of oohhhhs and aaaahhs. This is not your typical rental. Immaculately decorated with no detail overlooked, it sleeps 27 people with nine bedrooms (two master bedroom suites) and 7.5 bathrooms. The soaring ceilings, large expanse of windows, hardwood floors, shiny granite countertops in the gourmet kitchen (with two dishwashers!), and oversized comfortable furnishings make it a place you don’t want to leave. Add in four fireplaces—one is on the covered porch— a service elevator, a hot tub, a private pool, and a view to die for, and you’ll be making it part of your annual vacation plans. It is perfect for a girlfriend getaway, a bachelorette/bachelor party, corporate retreat, or reunion.
