08/10/12Get Fall Style Now: LoafersLast fall, loafers were the hot show that was appearing on the runways across the world. Originally based off of the classic smoking slipper you may remember your grandfather wearing, these flats are prepared to jazz up your outfits for fall and beyond. Much like ballet flats, loafers are easy to wear and come in a variety of colors, prints, and adornments. You needn't spend a lot of money on a pair of loafers, as Target is in on the trend and is carrying loafers for around $15. The loafers featured in the picture above all come from Gap, where they range from $39 to $50. Also, the Gap Friends & Family sale is this weekend, and through Sunday August 12, you can get 30% off! Just make sure to visit Gap online for a code to use online or a coupon to use in... Posted at 08:26 AM Comments |

07/20/12Never Say NeverI’m really not a huge Justin Bieber fan, I promise! This title was just appropriate for today’s blog. Anyway, I’ve heard way too many people say “I could never pull that off” or “I could never wear anything like that.” Never say "never" until you try. That has always been my rule. If you see something in a store and that thought comes across your mind, that gives you a perfect reason to try it on! I thought I’d share a couple outfits I hope inspire you to step out and have a little more fun with your wardrobe. Denim, denim, denim. This outfit is literally all denim from head to toe and it actually looks cute! When wearing all denim try to stick with different shades of it so it doesn’t look too... Posted at 04:38 PM Comments |

07/13/12Translating the Runway to Real LifeIf you flip through fashion magazines such as Vogue or W, you'll often see shots of models coming down the runway in some decadent—if not strange—outfits. Not only would you not be caught dead in public wearing such a getup, but you also wouldn't be caught wearing it by yourself in a bunker underneath The Greenbrier. But sometimes there's something about those outfits you like, or you wonder how that giant furry hat somehow is in style for the next season. It comes down to translation. When designers such as Marc Jacobs or Chanel send a look down the runway, designers who work for places like Gap look to see what they can incorporate into their designs. They make take a collar from one fashion show, the bright colors from another, and so on. This explains why... Posted at 11:50 AM Comments: 1 |

06/29/12Beat-the-Heat Beauty TipsIt's summer, and we all know it's going to be hot outside. However, Huntington is currently looking at the possibility of three days of back-to-back 100-degree weather, plus another week in the mid-to-high 90s, which means it's not just going to be hot—it's going to be really hot. Here are some products to help keep you looking your best in the hottest of weather. 1. Dry shampoos. Even if you head off to work with clean hair, there's a chance by happy hour your hair is going to look dirty and limp. Spray on the aersol powder, and brush through your hair several times. It will absorb oil, make your hair smell good, and perk the volume up. 2. Oil absorbing sheets. Some days you just feel like you could squeegee the oil off your face, and oil... 06/22/12Men's Summer StyleThe best summer weekends are about getting away, finding time to relax, and catching up with friends. Whether it's a trip to the beach, the lake, or your best friend’s backyard BBQ, summer events provide an opportunity to play it cool and casual with your style. There are some easy ways to achieve an effortless, men’s summer look. First, be bright. Bright colors are everywhere this season. It’s important not to overdo it, so shorts, belts, or shoes that pop will do just fine. Second, stay cool. Linen shirts are the perfect way to dress it up, while staying comfortable in the heat. Next, accessorize. A casual watch, rope bracelet, and tortoise sunglasses are classic and understated. Finally, if you are going away for a couple of days, keep it all together... 06/15/12Using and Loving BronzerHere are some tips to get the most out of your bronzer: • Don't use the brush that comes packaged with the bronzer. Use a special bronzer brush or a fluffy brush that isn't densely packed with bristles. • Use a light hand when applying bronzer, you can always build up color. • If you use a tanner on your face, you probably don't need a bronzer as well. Only apply bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face. Generally, this would include the top of your nose and cheeks, but I also like to put a touch on my chin and forehead. I also like to pair my bronzer with blush just to give a bit of extra color to my face. If you're going to add blush, pick a pink or coral shade, such as Nars Orgasm, Tarte's... 06/11/12Recycled & Reloved Summer ProjectsRecycling and reusing is not only good for the earth, but it's also good for your home! One of my favorite hobbies is to go thrifting and search for old bottles, mirrors, doors, etc., and create new found loves for my home. I found a few projects that I would like to begin below. One. I love this tree hook made from old scraps of wood. Adorable and brilliant! Two. I was super excited when I saw this porch swing made from pallets. Make this at home with just a few tools. It’s definitely my next project. Three. Mason jars are my favorite. They are so versatile, you can turn them into almost anything! I love this Mason jar soap dispenser. It’s going to look great in my bathroom. Four. The suitcase side table—this would look adorable in a guest... Posted at 03:46 PM Comments |
