Coat styles for winter 2013
Winter has arrived and so have the newest trends in winter coats. The extra fashionable layer is undeniably a woman’s best friend when the temperature starts dropping, and many designers are opting for fur collars, leather texture blends, pastels, and structured military button-downs.
Vintage is definitely back this year and these coats have Old Hollywood written all over them. The main feel of the winter coat this season is to really go all out to achieve the regal look.
In the market for a new coat? I suggest you try something you’ve never tried before. If last year you sported a peacoat, try a fur coat this year. If you are more of a sporty girl, the puffer coat is still holding strong with newer trends. It isn’t just for the bunny slopes, and some even have a fur collar for that extra glam.
No matter what style you choose, make sure it’s fitted to your proportions. If you are tall, try a longer or straight down silhouette. If you are petite, a cinched waist and shorter length will elongate you.
If you don’t have the budget for a new coat this year, try adding a new accessory to liven things up. A scarf, hat, pin, or gloves can be the perfect component to update last year’s coat. Add patterned accessories to a solid coat or solid accessories to a patterned coat. Don’t be too “matchy” when it comes to pairing those final touches. If you have a neutral colored coat, try adding a brightly hued fur scarf for a glamorous look.
