Keeping a beat in the Mountain State
The Demon Beat
The Demon Beat: three cute boys playing rock ‘n’ roll music. Adam Meisterhans (guitar, lead vocals), Tucker Riggleman (bass), and Jordan Hudkins (drums) comprise this rock trio that hails from the historic little town of Shepherdstown. But they are much more than cute boys with instruments. They are a rock ‘n’ roll force to be reckoned with.
I discovered the Demon Beat in 2007 in a college dorm room. I was visiting a friend who attended Shepherd University, and we were listening to music blasting through her MacBook’s speakers. When she told me the band members were her fellow college students, I was surprised. They were a local band? Really? When I finally heard the Demon Beat live, it was even better. Adam’s voice is soul stirring, and he can play guitar with his teeth—his teeth! And Tucker’s bass is not only heard, but felt. Jordan plays drums like Animal from “Muppet Babies,” and he gives the crowd something to laugh about between most songs.
A Demon Beat show is an experience no one should miss. Not only is the music tight, but the energy is intense. I haven’t been to many shows where the entire audience pushes to the front of the stage to hang on every word and riff. Everyone dances, and I mean, everyone. These boys rock so hard, it hurts. They’re really loud, but in the best way.
