Music & Arts Festival Offers Eclectic Sounds
Funk, indie, bluegrass, blues—you’ll find every style of music and more at the 9th Annual Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival in Pipestem, West Virginia, September 6 to 9, 2012, at the Appalachian South Folklife Center.
Experience the culture and flavor of this growing event in southern West Virginia through the healing arts, a parade, kids village, workshops, and concerts. Artists will come from West Virginia as well as Kentucky, North Carolina, California, and New York. The festival aims to promote unity and respect for diversity through music and the arts.
West Virginia acts in the lineup include: Option 22, Qiet, Cari Cohen, Kathleen Coffee, Melissa McKinney, The Captain Lazerblast Band, Chally Erb, Margo & The Bluegills, Miss Behavin’, The Brother-Sisters, Speakeasy, Po’ Folks Cabaret, Liberty High School World Percussion Ensemble, Briddy Morris, and Cassie Raye Ponton.
Other performers include: My Pet Dragon (New York City), Songs of Water (North Carolina - pictured right), Spiritual Rez (Boston), Antioquia (California), The Soil & The Sun (Michigan), Appalatin (Louisville), Brushfire Stankgrass (Asheville), A Ghost Like Me (Asheville), and Kirbie (Baltimore).
