We just received our advance copies of the 2013 WV WEDDINGS Magazine. I have to say that I open the box with delirious trepidation. I’m always nervous when it comes to printing something so large and so photo-dependent. Our entire office feverishly works on this issue for months and months, so when I finally hold a copy in my hands, it is like seeing a child for the first time, although I do believe the magazine weighs more. I flip through every page, looking for some big defect to jump out at me.

I love this issue. But I always wonder: What will the cover bride think when she first sees the magazine? How will the photographer of the cover photo react? Will all of the couples be thrilled?

As luck would have it, as I am working on this blog post, I look over at my e-mail inbox, and there’s a message from Emily Porter, the photographer who took the amazing cover photo. She says:

“I really just wanted to let you know I've looked through the issue a few times (but still have so much more to read in depth), and I am just so floored by how amazing it is this year. I love all the little blurbs/featurettes/tips, and the design is so fresh and makes the experience and content of the magazine even better. It's an amazing resource and a true celebration of the wonderful vendors, venues, and scenery the state has to offer. I am incredibly proud to have so many photos and friends in it. Thank you for all your hard work!! You are about to make so many recently-married couples very happy... And you're about to inspire and inform so many engaged brides!”

I breathe a little easier.

We spend a lot of time deliberating each of the wedding submissions as we choose 10 features and 12 web exclusives that will inspire other brides—but there are always more weddings that we wish we could give expanded coverage. This issue is massive and it typically flies off the shelves quickly. Sooooo…

We’ve decided to have two WV WEDDINGS issues—one in the Fall/Winter and one in the Spring/Summer. This will begin in September 2013.

We hope by doing that we can satisfy demand, showcase more brides, share more real West Virginia weddings, and highlight more of our state's venues and vendors. We are also introducing a special engagement announcement section in the magazine that will give brides-to-be the opportunity to share their wonderful news to a statewide audience.

WV WEDDINGS Magazine will now also be its own stand-alone subscription instead of being included in subscriptions for WV LIVING Magazine. For more information, please visit mywvwedding.com.

Although our 2013 WV WEDDINGS issue is just about to officially hit newsstands, we are already thinking ahead. On March 24, 2013, we will be hosting our second annual WV WEDDINGS Extravaganza. This year it will take place at Stonewall Resort. With numerous informational sessions, a fabulous luncheon, and an over-the-top expo showcasing the state’s finest vendors, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
