Fiesta at Carnegie Hall
As a lover of all things Latin American, I was excited to hear that Carnegie Hall’s annual fundraiser in Lewisburg was going to be a South American celebration. This year's event, FIESTA, will have a thematic menu that includes Argentine Chicken Skewers, Chilean Pork Empannadas and Chimichurri, Rice and Beans, Sauteed/Roasted Vegetables, Black Bean Hummus, and Fire Roasted Tomatillo Salsa, from Blackwell's Restaurant. The good food doesn’t end there—Carnegie Guild members will be providing delicious desserts.
Don’t worry about eating too much either because once Kike & Miguel begin playing you won’t be able to stay still! The dynamic duo hails from South America—Kike is from Chile, and Miguel from Clorinda—and their lively Andean music will make you feel like you are in South America.
You will also be able to bid on items donated from local merchants and Carnegie Guild members. This is the perfect opportunity to support Carnegie Hall while doing a little shopping for yourself or someone else. You can find a list of the auction items on Carnegie Hall's Facebook fan page.
This event is a great time, with nearly 125 people coming out each year to support Carnegie Hall. It is organized completely by volunteers, and the money raised goes to support arts and education programming at Carnegie Hall. In 2011, the event raised $3,600.
Tickets are now on sale at Carnegie Hall or Plaid Eagle Antiques and are $30 in advance, or can be purchased for $35 at the door on the evening of the event, which will be held at the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Lewisburg, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets include two drinks—wine, beer, and sangria will be served. So, mark your calendars for an evening of fun, frolic, and fundraising this Saturday, April 28, 2012.
