Haunted Harvest Hullabaloo at Fish Hawk Acres
Fish Hawk Acres in Rock Cave will be serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner this Saturday, October 27, to celebrate their Haunted Harvest Hullabaloo on the farm. With activities for young and old, alike, it's going to be a full day of seasonal perfection with a lot of fabulous food including biscuits with groundhog sausage gravy and classic grilled cheese with fresh tomato soup. Attendees can also look forward to apple butter making, pumpkin sling shot, mid-air apple bobbing, spooky face painting, and a Halloween Bone
Hunt, and at dusk there will be a Haunted Walk followed by s'mores by the bonfire. Starting at 8 a.m. and lasting until the walk at dusk, the Hullabaloo promises to be a good time with food and fun infused with some stellar bluegrass performances. Costumes are optional but if you want to win a prize come fully decked out to enter the costume contest.
Whether you can spend the whole day on the farm or can only make it for some of the activities, tickets must be purchased in advance. The quantity is limited, so be sure to visit Fish Hawk Acres online or e-mail fishhawkacres@gmail.com.
8 a.m.
Making apple butter with the Lions Club will continue throughout the day.
Biscuits and Ground Hog Sausage Gravy will be served until 10 a.m. for $5 a person. Coffee and beverages will be available.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Let the tunes begin with good ol' fashioned bluegrass music.
Noon – 1 p.m.
Lunch $10
- Grilled Cheese on Sourdough
- Fresh Tomato Soup
- Spinach and Arugula Salad
- Apple Walnut Cake
1 – 3 p.m.
Pumpkin Sling Shot: This year’s harvest hullabaloo brings a new competition to light. Rather than carving pumpkins, these traditional squashes are being used for the new sporting competition of catapulting to see who can throw pumpkins the farthest distance. Prizes will be awarded for the longest and most creative shots.
Mid-Air Apple Bobbing: This is a neater and more sanitary version of the old classic "apple bobbing." Instead of letting people try to bite for apples floating in water, our apples will be suspended from a tree branch with string.
Face Painting: A skilled artist will turn faces into creative works of art with witches, pumpkins, ghosts, and more!
Halloween Bone Hunt: Similar to an Easter egg hunt only with bones, cash prizes will be awarded to whoever finds the most bones—and The Lucky Bone.
3 – 5 p.m.
Enjoy music with Rus Reppert.
4 – 5:30 p.m.
Harvest Feast $25
- Bean and Kale Soup with Jeff’s Crusty Sourdough Bread
- Autumn Salad
- Thai Green Curry Chicken (made with Gardner Farms Chicken) with Fragrant Jasmine Rice
