Glass artists mark the Mountain State’s 155th birthday with a limited-edition work.
Blenko glass company will again celebrate West Virginia Day with a limited edition hand-formed, mouth-blown glass piece. This year’s design is a 22-inch-tall, blue and green glass decanter bottle designed by artists Emma Walters and Andrew Shaffer to reflect the strength of West Virginia’s mountains and people.
Blenko will only make 155 of these numbered and signed pieces—one for each year of the state’s existence—and will sell them for $155 each, plus tax. They go on sale Saturday, June 16, at the glass company’s gift shop in Milton. There’s a limit of one per customer and no advance or phone orders are allowed.
Doors open at 8 a.m. but you’ll need to get in line early if you want to nab one of these beauties. The day will also include birthday cake and other refreshments, and Blenko president Walter Blenko, Jr. will be on hand from 8 a.m. to noon to sign your glass purchases.
